The Nahuas employed a logosyllabic writing system to write works like the Codex Xolotl, but accessing the repertoire of meanings in this work requires consulting Fernando de Alva Ixtlilxochitl whose Historia de la Nación Chichimeca references it, and Alonzo de Molina whose dictionary presents a large number of words used by Nahuas during the early colonial period.
